Herb Washington was a baseball player who played 105 games for the Oakland As in the 1970s.

In all that time, he never put on a glove. Why not?

The first new player to comment on the website with the correct answer wins a free drink at their next iQ Trivia show.

  1. He was a Designated Hitter (DH) which had been introduced by the AL in the 1970s. The NL stuck with the concept that the Manager had to be able to think!

      1. I confess I had to look him up and had never heard of a Designated Runner who was a very good sprinter and replaced a batter who had got onto base. The Oakland As owner Charley Finley had a lot of crazy ideas but this one apparently worked for a couple of seasons.
