  1. My reference for 14 August says sunrise is 0635 and set is 1725 for a length of “day” of 10:50. If we take solar noon as half way between rise and set, half the day would happen 5:25 from rise, or exactly 12:00 which is quite a coincidence.
    Since the sun takes 1440 minutes to “circle” the globe, or 4 minutes per degree, solar noon would be about 2 minutes later at Penrith.
