For finding trip wires that set off booby traps. It settles on them and makes them visible.
And apparently it wasn’t easy to get silly string to them? It wasn’t issued to them and it couldn’t be shipped privately because it’s in an aerosol can. Eventually they found a way.
They were detecting land mines and IEDs.
They certainly were.
