Andras Toma was probably the last prisoner of war World War Two to be repatriated. He was captured by the Soviets in 1945, lost, declared dead, found in a mental hospital, identified with DNA, and then returned to his native Hungary in what year? 1990, 2000, or 2010?

He returned in the year 2000.
He was promoted to Sergeant Major and given 55 years of back pay.
Nobody at the hospital spoke Hungarian, and as he didn’t speak Russian, he had gone many years without having a single conversation.
