One team looked at a photo and was sure it was a young Tiger Woods… until we asked the question which was to name the TENNIS player with HER parents.

A team with multiple people from Indiana got the bonus round on Indiana wrong.

We asked about Queen Victoria, and someone asked if we meant Queen Victoria the First or the Second.

And a jackpot question where we gave a species and asked for the Australian food resulted in a guess of Lamingtons. You know, from all those herds of wild lamingtons that can be found across Australia.

We played a scene from Schindler’s List, and someone guessed that it was a conversation between The Rock and Colin Firth from The Litter Mermaid.

When they couldn’t think of cricketing cities beginning with B, one team creatively came up with Best Indies and Bimbabwe.

And one team did the math so they could argue their point on the relative size of Earth & Jupiter.

We found out that one team has been choosing the last place subject by just hitting “random article” on Wikipedia. That’s how we got questions on the Headcorn & Maidstone Junction Light Railway, and obscure 19th century English railway that was never actually built.

The police turned up to deal with a disturbance outside of one of our venues, and stayed to listed to a few questions. We are single handedly reducing the effectiveness of the police.

One player was caught cheating, though apparently it was without any malice. It actually didn’t occur to him that looking up answers on your phone was against the rules.

You know that Jimmy Buffet song about margaritas? What was it? Margarita City? Margaritaburg? Margaritapolis?

And one team had two answers down for the minefield bonus round, and argued intensely about whether they should go for a third. We didn’t tell them that both of their answers were already wrong. They argued for five minutes for absolutely no reason.

One player bet his teammates 100 beers, that there were a lot of Filipinos in Rooty Hill. He will be drinking for free for quite a while.

When we asked about The Blind Side, one team answered with “dog sh!t American football film that is all fake”, which we deemed close enough.

One team tried to help their neighbour with the answers to a question on basketball. Out of five answers they were given for free, they got two.

We played a song that was easy to belly dance to, and one player who happened to be at the bar broke into a belly dance. It was like an involuntary movement.

One player whose life did not overlap with Frank Sinatra at all immediately recognised his rendition of “That’s Life”, and sang along.

And when they forgot to do their homework on what SSRI stands for in anti-depressants, one team came up with Super Sad Rectification Immediately.

Someone got so excited about our questions so often, that it registered on her Apple watch as a workout.

African countries spelled with the letter Z? How about Moroczo, Zethiopia, and Chadz.

We had an engineer fail to get a pretty straightforward math question, because as he put it, he’s done with being tested on these things.

A player who was a big enough Radiohead fan to have a Radiohead album on vinyl with them at the quiz, didn’t get a Radiohead question.

And one team nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by listing five actors instead of five films.

One team turned up having done the homework question from a quiz in March of 2019. Yes, they were over four years late doing their homework… and they finished last.

Someone did their taxes during our quiz. Yes, their taxes, on their phone. Well, it’s not cheating.

When we asked about Big Bash teams with team names of at least seven letters, we had to clarify that they couldn’t add superfluous letters to get them across the line. And when they couldn’t come up with any, they gave us Butterflies, Sweethearts, Cuite Pies, and Cheeky Boys.

LARP stands for Lingerie And Random Pants, or Living As Ru Paul.

We had a guess that the Robert Burns poem set to music and sung at the New Year was Gangsta’s Paradise.
