I figured his remains were launched on a spacecraft that would eventually leave our Solar System and after research found that was true. He was cremated and some of his ashes are on the New Horizon which will eventually leave the Sun’s orbit. One of his colleagues once asked him if he could visit his discovery and Tombaugh replied, “Yes, but the trip will be long and cold”.
That seems a very appropriate thing to say.
