The number repeated online is approximately 20%. However, there’s no reliable source for that statistic, and per the BBC, the number is likely closer to 66% per a 1993 book by Russian demographers.

To be fair, the records aren’t immaculate but the results we found suggest it’s pretty close to that at 32%.
