I would have guessed that Afghanistan was trending upwards until a sudden drop in 2021. So if there is lag time in getting the 2022 ratings out it might have been that.
But I suspect there isn’t.
I can’t imagine Venezuela or Russia have got more democratic under Maduro and Putin. Australia doesn’t feel more democratic from the inside.
So, I guess that leaves Saudi Arabia (weird though that thought is)

Yep. Off a pretty low base, but it’s the only one of those five to have become MORE democratic.
