“Schnapsidee” translated means “booze idea”.
It’s one of those German words whose meaning doesn’t really have an English equivalent. Basically, it’s an idea that’s just plain dumb. Crazy. Stupid. Completely foolish.(And it may not have needed alcohol to fuel and ignite it.)
