I suspect that there are a few parents in Virginia that would name their infant daughters after the state as there is still a degree of state loyalty in some of the old Confederacy. The State motto shown on the seal “Sic Semper Tyrannis” (Thus always Tyrants) is reportedly what John Wilkes Booth shouted after he shot Abraham Lincoln and was running away.
Yes, there is more.
It’s the same with Georgias in Georgia, Sidneys in Sydney, and lots of other names.
