That’s what it is. Like many places, there are competing origin stories, but we like this one. It makes for a good trivia question.
It would probably be either Tibooburra or Milparinka and since I believe Tibooburra is reputed to refer to a pile of rocks, it is probably Milparinka. My father used to fly to Broken Hill, then drive to Tibooburra for work back in the 1960s
