When we asked a question on brands of golf balls, one player suddenly became very interested in the golf that was on TV.

One player who had just returned from the bar was sent up to face the bonus round by a friend. Neither of them had the slightest idea what it entailed, and they wound up naming a grand total of zero artists who have recently won the Grammy for Best Record, instead of the 12 they were tasked with.

Jared Leto’s role in Fight Club was described as “dude who gets beat up”. Which, to be fair, is not entirely wrong.

We had a pregnancy announcement at one quiz, and a promise that if the baby comes on a Monday, they will be brought to trivia on the Tuesday to get them the best start in life.

And our leaders have maintained their spot at the top of the table.

We gave our usual pre-quiz spiel, and then proceeded into question 1. It was only as we were repeating the question that one team reacted with a stunned “oh sh!t he’s asking questions already”.

We had one team guess that the inventor of the AK-47 was born in 1945, and therefore designed it when he was 2 years old.

One team theorised that our host must have a favourite Grey’s Anatomy character, adding that “every woman has a favourite Grey’s Anatomy character”, but not noticing that our host was not, in fact, a woman.

We have new leaders in our quarterly tournament.
